Enjoy low-stimulus in wintery Stockholm
Posted on December 12, 2022
A city break in winter and then also to a ‘cold’ city? Sure, because wintry Stockholm offers enough warmth in the form of culture to warm your heart. In addition, Stockholm in winter is also definitely a tip if you need to slow down when it comes to stimuli from a medical point of view. In this blog, you’ll find tips to entertain yourself for three days in Stockholm.
Accommodation & tips
With KLM, you can fly from Amsterdam to Stockholm in as little as two hours! Once you arrive at Stockholm Arlanda, you have several options to travel to the city centre:
– The Arlanda Express: a high-speed train that will take you to the city centre in eighteen minutes. Costs about 28 euros for a single ticket.
– The Flygbussarna Airport Coaches: buses that depart every 10-15 minutes from the airport and take you to the city centre within 50 minutes. Cost: 11 euros for a single ticket.
– Taxis: found at the various terminals, speed depends on traffic. Cost: around 50 euros.
We chose the Flygbuss as it stops next to central station and our hotel was located here. We stayed at Comfort Hotel Xpress for three nights. The hotel’s location is fantastic considering that Stockholm is made up of several islands, so it’s easy to have a centrally located hotel. Furthermore, the hotel is aimed at couples who are still very much in love, as the standard rooms are very small. Since I (Iris) was travelling with my mother, I thought that was just too much of a problem and we asked for a larger room. Here, fortunately, we had more room to move around.
Some other tips:
– Keep in mind that in Sweden, payment is still made with the Swedish krona
– Bring good, warm footwear if you visit Stockholm in winter. You don’t want to have to worry too much about whether you’re going to fall on your plate every few metres.
– Already know that you will be travelling a lot by public transport? Then buy the public transport card when you arrive at, for example, central station so you can go wherever you want and not have to walk unnecessarily.
