Dubai is more than a city of skyscrapers in the desert. We have listed 12 things that you must see and do when you go on holiday to Dubai!
Shop at the Dubai mall or Mall of the Emirates
In Dubai you can shop well in one of the huge malls! In the Dubai mall they even have an aquarium with a lot of fish and in the Mall of the Emirates they have a ski slope. It’s nice to walk around here and see all the shops and have something to eat and drink somewhere.
Walk around the Dubai Marina
The Dubai Marina is a nice place to eat something and look at the beautiful boats.
Visit old town
Dubai not only has modern parts, but also an old city that you should not miss. Al Fahidi is an old neighborhood with traditional buildings. Take an abra (boat) across the creek. Here you will find the Deira district where you can go to the gold souk and spice souk. A nice experience!
Abu Dhabi
A fun activity to do from Dubai is a day trip to Abu Dhabi! If you go to Abu Dhabi, be sure to visit the Sheikh Zayed Grande Mosque. Make sure you dress appropriate for this and bring a scarf to put over your hair.
Burj Khalifa
Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world. From the top you have a beautiful view. Buy your tickets in advance via this website.
Dubai fountain
The Dubai Fountain is located next to the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Mall. A beautiful light show takes place here every evening. You should definitely not skip this!
Go to Burj Al Arab
Burj Al Arab is one of the most striking buildings in Dubai. It is a very luxurious hotel and only accessible to guests. Do you still want to take a look? Then book a high tea, lunch or tour!
Madinat Jumeirah
We found Madinat Jumeirah the nicest part of the city. Here you will find traditional shops, restaurants and terraces. You can very well enjoy an evening here with a beautiful view of the Burj Al Arab.
Desert safari
Dubai is located in the middle of the desert and if you go here, a desert safari is a must do! You go into the desert with a jeep and race over the high dunes. You will stop at a camp in the desert where you will have dinner. A very special experience!
Dubai miracle garden
A beautiful flower garden and not just one, because there are entire structures made of flowers. Very special to see, especially when you consider that you are in the middle of the desert.
Palm Jumeirah
On the island in the shape of a palm tree you will find many hotels and villas, but you can also walk on the pier or take the monorail to one of the malls or restaurants. You can also take a boat trip along the Dubai coastline and see the palm islands from the water!
Global Village
Global Village is a park where you travel around the world. The park is divided into countries and you will not only find buildings from more than forty countries here, but also the local food. It’s a very nice place to go for an evening. Global Village is not open all year round, but from October to April.
