A mini-break in southern Spain
Posted on June 6, 2023
Are you looking for the perfect destination for a mini-break? Look no further during the Pentecost weekend we had a mini-break in southern Spain! In this blog we share our tips for Malaga, Alhaurin El Grande, Torremolinos and Cabopino beach, near Marbella. Read on and discover why these destinations are a must-visit!
Wandering around Malaga
From Rotterdam The Hague Airport we flew to Malaga with Transavia in just under three hours. Once we arrived, we took an Uber to our Airbnb on the edge of central Malaga. We stayed here one night. After we dropped off our stuff we went to explore the city. Our walk took us past highlights such as the Picasso Museum, the Moorish Alcazaba fortress, and the Malaga Cathedral. We ended our walk in the port of Malaga where there are plenty of tents to enjoy a drink or in our case a late lunch.
After our walk we returned to our Airbnb where we enjoyed the roof terrace with pool! A real tip! In the evening we had delicious tapas at Esquina Sanchez . The next morning it was time to leave again, but not before we had a delicious breakfast at Brunchit .
Alhaurin El Grande
After 24 hours in Malaga it was time to pick up the family at the airport! From the airport we drove to our beautiful accommodation in one of the white villages of Alhaurin El Grande. This house is highly recommended if you are traveling with a larger group! From the accommodation we had a beautiful view of the village and the beautiful nature. From here you can take beautiful walks or bike rides and at the same time be back at seaside resorts such as Marbella, Torremolinos or Malaga within half an hour.
Torremolinos
From Alhaurin El Grande we visited Torremolinos beach. A beautiful beach where plenty of water sports were taking place when we were there. Great to see the jumping kitesurfers! As far as we were concerned, the real tip was beach club La Palapa Beach Jazba . We had a delicious meal here and an additional advantage is that there is also a kids menu.
Cabopino Beach: Paradise on the Coast
Our mini-break ends on the fourth and final day on the idyllic Cabopino beach, located near Marbella. This secluded beach offers peace and quiet and is also a lot less crowded. We once again had a delicious lunch at one of the places, Alberts . The staff speaks good English, so you can come here if you have allergies.
