Best travel time
Before you book a trip to Bali, it is useful to know the best time to travel. If you want the least chance of rain, it is best to travel to Bali in the months of May to October. We ourselves went in August and we only had one morning of rain and otherwise great weather!
Visa
It is not necessary to arrange a visa before departure. You will receive a visa upon arrival in Bali. This visa is valid for 30 days and costs 500,000 rupiah, which is about € 30. You can then extend your visa for another 30 days. To get a visa, you must be able to show an exit ticket.
Travel schedule
We stayed in Bali for a total of 18 days and have mapped out the perfect route for you:
Day 1 – 4: Seminyak
Day 4 – 7: Canggu
Day 7 – 10: Ubud
Day 10 – 13: Nusa Lembongan & Nusa Ceningan
Day 13 – 16: Uluwatu
Day 1 – 4 Seminyak
Our trip started in Seminyak. Seminyak is about a twenty minute drive from Ngurah Rai Airport. Seminyak is a busy city where you immediately become acquainted with the hectic traffic in Bali. You have a lot of trendy coffee shops, restaurants and beach clubs, so you can certainly enjoy yourself here for a few days!
For example, start your day with breakfast at Coffee Cartel, Nook or KYND Community. They have delicious smoothie bowls! Then relax at one of the beach clubs, such as Potato Head or Manu Beach House. You can also visit one of the many shops or let Rob Peetoom pamper you. And are you looking for a nice place to have drinks and watch the sunset? Then plop down on one of the beanbags at La Plancha! In the evening you have plenty of restaurants to choose from. Craving Mexican? Then take a look at Motel Mexicola!
Beste reistijd
-
Dag 1 – 4: Seminyak
-
Dag 4 – 7: Canggu
-
Dag 7 – 10: Ubud
-
Dag 10 – 13: Nusa Lembongan & Nusa Ceningan
-
Dag 13 – 16: Uluwatu
Dag 1 – 4 Seminyak
Onze reis begon in Seminyak.
Day 4 – 7 Canggu
After a few days in Seminyak it is time for Canggu. A lot less busy than Seminyak, but certainly no less lively! Canggu is close to Seminyak, so you can take a taxi there in about half an hour. A tip for if you take the taxi: the largest taxi company in Bali is Blue Bird and these taxis have a meter. So always try to take a taxi. There are many taxis that resemble Blue Bird taxis, but they do not have a meter and you often pay a lot more. You can of course also rent a scooter and get around Bali in no time.
When you arrive in Canggu, you immediately notice that there is a nice atmosphere. Here too you have many restaurants and beach clubs to choose from. We really liked La Brisa and The Lawn! You can also surf here and relax afterwards with a drink at Old Man's. Near Canggu there is a beautiful temple that you can visit: Pura Tanah Lot. This temple stands on rocks in the water and is a beautiful place for the sunset. You can get nice souvenirs at The Love Anchor market and do you feel like going out for an evening? Then check out Pretty Poison!
Day 7 – 10 Ubud
After a few days of relaxing on the beach, it's time for rice fields and temples in Ubud! Enjoy the beautiful nature here and discover more about Balinese culture. You can visit the Tegalalang rice terraces here and don't miss the Pura Tirta Empul temple! The temple is built around a sacred spring and many Balinese bathe in the holy water. Don't forget to wear appropriate clothing when you go to a temple or take a sarong with you.
Another tip is to walk the Campuhan Ridge walk. The walk is not difficult and you have a beautiful view. You can possibly walk a little further and rest or take a dip at Jungle Fish. A wonderful place in the middle of nature!
In Ubud you can also visit the Monkey Forest. We did not do this, but many tourists go here to watch monkeys. In addition, Ubud has many restaurants. One of our favorites was KAFE and Clear Cafe and Watercress Cafe are also great fun!
Do you think Ubud is too touristy? You can also choose the less touristy Sidemen. Here you can also see beautiful rice fields.
Day 10 – 13 Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan
The Nusa Islands are half an hour's boat ride from Bali. We chose to go to Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan. These islands are connected by a yellow bridge. You can also choose the larger and more rugged island of Nusa Penida. To get to these islands, take the boat from Sanur and it will take you to the port of Nusa Lembongan in about half an hour. It is best to book tickets via 12go.asia .
Nusa Lembongan and Ceningan are small islands with a very nice atmosphere. We rented a scooter and drove around for hours looking for nice places. Be sure to visit Devil's Tear at sunset, a beautiful place where the waves crash against the rocks. Dream Beach and the Blue Lagoon are also beautiful places on the islands. You can relax very well at Sandy Bay Beach Club and would you like a drink? Then go to Sea Breeze or The sand!
Day 13 – 16 Uluwatu
We spent the last days of the trip in Uluwatu, in the south of Bali. Here you have beautiful beaches, nice beach clubs and restaurants. Sunday Beach Club is a very nice beach club on one of the most beautiful beaches in Bali! If you like the beach, Dreamland beach is also a beautiful beach to relax on. And do you like the beach less? At El Kabron you can take a dip in the pool and have a beautiful view. We also visited a temple where you have a beautiful view of the cliffs, Pura Luhur Uluwatu. Highly recommended! The best way to end the day is at Single Fin. A nice place for a drink, especially at sunset!
Itinerary three weeks
As can be seen above, two weeks for Bali is enough and the island is definitely worth it! Do you want to make the route longer? You can add stops in Sidemen and Lovina or climb Mount Batur, for example. You can of course also choose to stay longer in one of the towns or go to the Gili islands.
Are you planning to go to Bali and do you have questions about the itinerary or other questions? Then reassure them!
