Climb Mount Christoffel
Curaçao is known for its beaches but did you know that the island also has a mountain you can climb? The 372-meter-high Christoffelberg can be found in the national park of the same name. Once at the top, you have a beautiful view of the island. Read our blog here for our tips.
Paint a Chichi
The Chichi® is a sensual and well-shaped Caribbean figure. She represents the vibrant, dynamic and most importantly, responsible older sister. The Chichi is handmade and hand painted in the most cheerful colors of the Caribbean by the local women of Curaçao. Visit the differences beaches
As we said, when you think of Curaçao you think of beaches. Our favorite beaches include the Grote Knip, Playa Porto Mari, Playa Grandi and Mambo Beach. Read more about the different beaches and how we experienced them in our blog.
Party at one of the many beach bars
With your feet in the sand and an Amstel Bright in your hand…. Like many beaches, there are many beach bars on Curaçao. During the happy hours at the various beach bars it is party time and you can score Brasa’s and cocktails for half price. Check this website to see when and where happy hours take place.
A day trip to Klein Curacao
Just a few hours away by catamaran you will find the uninhabited island of Klein Curaçao! The sand here is even whiter and the sea is even bluer. In our opinion more than worth it for a day trip. We chose Blue Finn Charters and had a wonderful day. Read our blog here for more tips.
Snorkeling with turtles
Don’t forget your snorkel gear when you go to Curaçao because you will see your eyes underwater! So we saw turtles at Playa Grandi and around Klein Curaçao beautiful fish in all kinds of bright colors.
Spot flamingos
Besides turtles and beautiful fish you can also spot other animals on Curaçao, namely flamingos. At the salt pans of Jan Kok in Sint Willibrordus you have the greatest chance of seeing them up close.
Discover Willemstad
Of course, you can’t visit the island without exploring Willemstad. The city offers several fresh markets, beautiful street art, special restaurants and different architecture. Read about all the activities in our Willemstad Guide!
Kura Hulanda Museum
One of the must visits in Willemstad is the Kura Hulanda Museum. The Kura Hulanda Museum is located on the harbor, right where Dutch entrepreneurs traded and shipped enslaved Africans along with other commercial goods. This museum impressively shows the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade in its totality from the capture of the slaves in Africa, through their shipment to their resettlement in the New World. Visit one of the shelters
Curaçao is unfortunately home to many stray dogs. Fortunately, there are plenty of foundations that take in the dogs. We visited Rescue Paws Curaçao and got a tour here and had time to play with the dogs and many puppies that were taken care of there. Definitely a tip if you are a dog lover and want to give something back.
Eat your belly off the many restaurants
We had delicious meals on the island! At nice restaurants like De Gouveneur in Willemstad to along the Truk’i Pans along the road! In addition, of course, we went shopping at the Albert Heijn. Want to know more? Read our blog to find out how we experienced eating on the island with an allergy.
